Zoom camera :)

Hi guys.

Some times ago I bought this camera:

The main problem was - how to use zoom during flight ... and ... My friend and I made a dongle

Now we can use zoom by PWM (or PPM sum) channel
We can set up this camera by keypad too.

So it is not a LANC Interface protocol?

No LANC. There is another protocol, but solution is smarter

Which components go on the aircraft and which stay on the ground?

Are you likely to produce these in any significant quantities?

left PCB you must put on the cam (holes are fixed to cam holes)
Key PCB is only for set up cam easy.

To control PCB you must connect RC channel (PWM or PPM) and ... its all

I have 20pcs now. I can produce it.

That camera spec looks quite impressive for its size. Is it just composite video output? I assume so looking at the spec ...

I'm playing about with the idea of using a camera like this on a brushless gimbal with remote zoom control for building / high voltage pylon inspection ... do you have any sample video from that camera?

Yes
There is composite but originaly on the soft tape (look at PCB, there is flat ZIF connector for this tape).
I'll put some videos next week and description of controller.

By flat tape do you mean the white ribbon cable with the blue writing on it? So long as they provide one I don't mind!

I wonder how useful the 27x zoom range when it's used on a brushless gimbal ... I was looking at Sony's BOSS camcorders which have incredible image stabilisation built into them - like this amazing video from Mikrokopter from 2012:



That's a good idea Glenn - I've got an S95 on one of my platforms but only use CHDK to allow me to trigger the shutter via the USB port. I hadn't thought of zooming the camera as well ... I like your thinking!
