Unexpected motor stop

Postby bluuu » Sat Jan 05, 2013 4:04 pm

Hello.

AQ is hard to start but it gives a lot of satisfaction :)

My next problem, actualy with unexpected motor stop under leveling.

I tested reaction in hands and when I rolled or pitched hard - motor stoped.
I think is a current protection but ... its very dangerous in real flite.
I use calibrated esc32 (MT2814-10 + APC 12x3.8). I thinked its impossible ...
What can be a reason ?

- after motor stop, esc32 signaling error by blinking red diode

here is logs and video

Its probably the ESC that shuts down due to overcurrent or error in the CL terms. The controller keep sending PWM output to the ESC. Red blinks means error or no signal to ESC - check your wiring too!

How have you calibrated the ESC´s (QGC is probably not yet stable for ESC32 calibrations - do you have access to a Linux box and can run it there?)

Please post the CL terms generated for ESC32.

Is it always the same ESC´s that shut down?

Pls try and use the default current limiter (reset all CL terms) and set the current limit to 20.

thx for reply

Wires checked many times, thats good.

I calibrated esc's via QGC in Windows.
I have accesc to Linux box. I make calibration on Linux in few days :)

My CL:
Results:

CL1TERM: -3.03515e-01
CL2TERM: +1.14177e-03
CL3TERM: +4.11003e-02
CL4TERM: -3.59413e-05
CL5TERM: +9.59350e-01

FF1TERM: +9.88696e-08
FF2TERM: +1.06674e-03

No, not the same esc's but (as on the video) those who gets bigger load.

Ok, I reset esc's and write what happend.

one more:

After calibration (esc) can I set on esc close loop RPM mode ? or leave Open_loop ?

after next test:
I reset all CL and FF values.
I set up current limiter to 25A.

and ...

still the same. Motors stopped whed leveling platform (like on the video).

Time to test at ... 50A :)

test done

Unfortunately still the same problem.

I changed "advance" (timeing) value to 15 (like in other esc's, eg. SimonK software and wii-esc).
I feel quite fluetly start, but still motor stop present.
I think that is not a current limiter problem ... mayby other parameters ? Mayby changing fw to 1.4.2 ?
Jussi, what do you thinking about ?

Yes, definately try and update the FW to the latest version and try them with default params.

Otherwise, I need to see your motor and mixing parameters. Can you post a copy of "all parameters" from QGC (use the new version 1.1.0 alpha, please.

Dont disable the current limiter - basically if you do, you will stand a good chance of burning a motor if you get a lockup.

I also would like some details about your wiring and placement of the ESC´s

Is there any signs of the ESC or motor getting warm?
