indus

I would like to get little help. I want to control two esc32 v3's over serial with other stm32 device. I understand that I can connect only one esc per serial. I would like to get an example code how to do that or the serial library for the esc32 v3.

Thanks

The easiest way is to use the CLI.
Try it out with putty. Then send the commands from your app.

There are two serial interfaces, the CLI as Christof mentioned (the config GUI also has a CLI interface, no need to use PuTTY), and a "binary" protocol which is meant for machine-to-machine interaction. Depending on what you want to do, you can use either or both. None of this is documented anywhere per se, but you can look at the ESC32 v2 source code and other utilities for ideas. Also, I don't know what you're doing exactly, but generating a PWM signal to control the ESC speed should be fairly trivial (use serial for setup/comms/telemetry and PWM for control).

Thanks, Christof and Max

I'm building a robot and I want to use serial because that way I can get telemetry (I could have used CAN, but the CAN drivers for the board I'm using aren't working yet) to my Particle Photon board, which will send the data over wifi to my phone. Also there is a little problem with the servo library for that board, it runs at 50hz and I would have to modify it to run at 450-500hz.

Thanks

There is a problem with controlling RPM. I can control my motors (2-pole inrunners) with duty, but when I try to set rpm, then they will start cogging like hell. I have calibrated my motors to esc.
When the esc is in pwm mode then input frequency is 450hz as I understand, but when it is in uart mode what is the input refreshrate then?
I also have a question about uart connection. Do I have to connect all pins (TX, RX 5V and GND) or can I just connect TX RX and GND, because the board I'm using has only 3.3V GPIO?
