FTDI Voltage

Why is there on the FTDI 5V and not 3,3 V as shown on the USB UART Adapter??

They're both voltage OUTput, so you do not want to ever connect those 2 leads together. When using the serial header with a USB adapter, always remove the J4 jumper on AQ. Actually I don't even hook up the power wire from the adapter to AQ at all, just to be safe.

As to why the adapter is set up that way, I don't know. Maybe to remind you that the signaling voltage on AQ side is 3.3v.

Thanks Max, I am stumbling upon the "+5V" print on the upper picture of the FTDI of the AQ6 which does not fit to the 3,3 Volt that the USB adapter is offering when connected to the Autoquad connectors.
Meanwhile I have read that 3,3V is the right for the AQ6, but its 5V tolerant...Thanks for your help.

The 5V print on the FDTI is OUTPUT 5V if the Jumper is set and the board is powered. It is commonly used to connect a telemetry modem and power it.

Always use a 3.3V FDTI cable for connecting to QGC and remove the jumper or even the powerpin (from the cable) as Max said. AQ wants to be powered otherwise than thru FDTI. Use the AQ FDTI 5V pin only to power an external device up to 500-700mA.

Cheers
