Maximum number of waypoints

Hi all,

the current maximum waypoints is set to 25. Is there a particular reason for this and can we increase the default? The reason for this is that we are trying to implement a 'terrain follow' feature in mission planning. This way it will create a lot more waypoints than normal.

Also, is it possible to give a rate of ascend/descend during mission mode through mavlink?

Yeah, we should raise the numbers of waypoints by default.
For special applications like polygon WPs it´ll be useful to raise the bar.

The 25 is a relict of the past when more was barely needed...

that is what we have done so far, but if we can avoid having to recompile every firmware we use it would be great. If all it takes is changing a number in the code, why not do it for everyone. Also my crossworks trial has expired....

I believe the APM2.x is 127 and the Pixhawk is 900. I flew for a long time with 100 waypoint set.

Does this mean you will consider increasing it in the next stable release?
