This is how I'm doing it... don't know if it's going to work or not because this is first time I'm doing it.
1. Use Menno's firmware for HOTT. Choose what type of ESC you are using via MOT_ESC_TYPE in QGC. 0 = KISS, 1 = ESC32 and I believe 2 = on-board ESC.
2. Get thrust calculations. You will need a tachometer, thrust stand, and use QGC to generate steps of 100us of PWM. The way to do this is use MOT_ESC_CALI = 2. Then with battery already connected reboot your AQ. Upon boot up you'll see directions in the Communication Console. You'll also want to set your your MOT_MIN, MOT_MAX, MOT_START, and MOT_ARM values prior to running the measurements. Once done put in RPM values and thrust measured in grams in excel spreadsheet to calculate A1 and A2. I was able to do 9 measurements in total.
3. Do your airframe geometry. Create xml and upload it to drone controls website.
4. Use data from both calculations and input into QGC.
Voila!
The only thing missing is One Shot for the ESC. I've read that it doesn't make much of a difference with AQ though.
I could be missing details... hopefully others will chime in.
