One error in your xml file :
<!-- M4CAN expansion board -->

Thanks Fred

I guess it is difficult to diplay the arms because we do not have a Z position for them. All other Z's are relative to a chosen "zero Z plane". I guess if the masses are speced with center of arms as "zero Z plane" the prog works nice.

The arms could always be displayed at center of body.

Hi fred,

thanks to your file processing you have found an error with the M4CAN expansion board.
Thanks to your 3D image I also noticed that the x-offset of my aft frame section is wrong! It is the blue cube over the red front section; this should be located under the battery.
In addition it looks like the battery z-offset is to small.

I've fixed the errors mentioned above and also further refined the model by splitting the landing gear cube (light blue one) into 4 sections (front/rear mounts and skids).
Can you please process the attached .xml-file again? Have you ever tested with custom frame geometry?

Needless to say that QUATOS is real adaptive since the quad flies quite nice even with same flaws in the .xml-file!
Thanks

I have not test custom frame geometry. For custom frame the to parameter for motor is position in x and y ?

The program convert xml file in vrml file. It is write in TCL langage : http://www.activestate.com/activetcl/downloads.

The first version of this program is written in language TCL .
The program is used command line interface :

tclsh.exe convert tcl fichier_in.xml fichier_out.wrl

it can be download at: http://autoquad6.free.fr/convert.tcl

The used program allowing the display Vrml file is this one http://www.orbisnap.com/download2.html

Thx for your contributions, Fred!
This is a very helpful tool to visualize whether a setup makes sense - as we can see with Joerg´s example.

Would be a nice companion for the QuatosTool.

Hi fred,

this is a great tool! Thanks for sharing it!

Since I still have a wrong offset on the landing skids I've changed my xml.file again and tested your tool.
Seems there is an error somewhere because not every cube is processed; last one is the GPS antenna. Arms were completely missing!
Please find the input file and the resulting outputs below.

testrun.PNG
Generated 3D file - the last cube that is correctly processed is the GPS antenna - rest is missing!
One skid is in black --> barely visible! How to change the background color to white i.e.?
