How to X8 coax with Quatos

Postby plexus » Sun Mar 08, 2015 5:52 pm

Hi,
I dont know how to find the position of the motors on the arms with quatos.

I build an Coaxial X8 in +. In the quatos air frame geometry i have a doubt to declare the position of the motors on the arms.
how to write the position of the motors in +Z and -Z (upper and below the arm).
See my config:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!-- Distances in meters
Wieghts in grams
+1 == CW rotation
-1 == CCW rotation
-->
<quatos_configuration>
<craft id="X8coaxial" config="custom">
<ports>
<port rotation="+1">1</port>
<port rotation="-1">2</port>
<port rotation="-1">3</port>
<port rotation="+1">4</port>
<port rotation="+1">5</port>
<port rotation="-1">6</port>
<port rotation="-1">7</port>
<port rotation="+1">8</port>
</ports>
<distance>
<motor>0.275</motor>
</distance>
<mass>
<motor>78</motor>
<arm>50.0</arm>
<cube name="Body" dimx="0.180" dimy="0.180" dimz="0.015" offsetx="0" offsety="0" offsetz="0">434</cube>
<cube name="AQ6" dimx="0.064" dimy="0.053" dimz="0.0017" offsetx="0" offsety="0" offsetz="-0.018">66</cube>
<cube name="LIPO" dimx="0.04" dimy="0.16" dimz="0.04" offsetx="0" offsety="0" offsetz="0.035">603</cube>
<cube name="gopro" dimx="0.045" dimy="0.075" dimz="0.085" offsetx="0" offsety="0" offsetz="0.130">200</cube>
<cube name="gimbal" dimx="0.04" dimy="0.17" dimz="0.166" offsetx="0" offsety="0" offsetz="0.115">223</cube>
<cube name="servo" dimx="0.02" dimy="0.04" dimz="0.0.04" offsetx="0" offsety="0.08" offsetz="0.120">48</cube>
</mass>
</craft>
</quatos_configuration>

Can you help me

Thanks
Alain

Hi max,
May thanks for the help? I changed my geometry by this one. I am in quad coax plus 8 motors
<quatos_configuration>
<craft id="quad_coax_plus" config="custom" motors="8">
<geometry>
<motor rotation="+1" port="1">1,0</motor>
<motor rotation="-1" port="2">1,0</motor>
<motor rotation="-1" port="3">0,1</motor>
<motor rotation="+1" port="4">0,1</motor>
<motor rotation="+1" port="5">-1,0</motor>
<motor rotation="-1" port="6">-1,0</motor>
<motor rotation="-1" port="7">0,-1</motor>
<motor rotation="+1" port="8">0,-1</motor>
</geometry>
</craft>
Is that config good ?

Hi Kissys,
Thank you for the help, that is correct now.
Maybe to add a remark in the wiki about the X8 coax.

A note regarding what, where? Also, an "X8" flies in X config by definkition, which is why i pasted the octo coax X config. But good job finding the right mix.
