M4 - PID - ESC32 - CAN - Motor pumping

Postby Ecky » Fri Jan 09, 2015 10:09 pm

Hi all,

having some truble with M4 config:
Autoquad M4
PID with aqv7.0.r441.b1847-hwv8.6-ext_esc
ESC32
CAN
Expansion aBUGSworstnightmare

Changing from AQ6 to M4 with same configuration:
Autoquad 6
ESC32
CAN

there is a Problem with the esc32 Output?

The motor frequenz is "pumping". I flasched the same PID's
as in the AQ6 configuration.

What am i doing wrong?

Hi Ecky, welcome back!

Please post your parameters and a short log. The pumping even doesn´t change at full throttle so there´s smt completely wrong.

Nice build, btw!

Hi Norbert,

SD didn't work yet :-(

It will do that if you don't have the M4 reading the flight pack voltage.

Solderd the ADC input connector to lipo. Using QGC via USB didn't show
the right voltage in QGC (M4 powerd via aBUGSworstnightmare and 3S).
QGC shows round about 2V, think that is the USB powering?

Next step, figured out to plug of the USB connection to QGC solve the
pumping motor Problem (in AQ6 there is no problem during FTDI connection and powerimg motors)
Without USB connection to QGC, the motors run much more then expected, the pumping motor is gone.
Don't understand the relatinship between voltage / voltage detection and pumping motors.

How to show the right voltage (for example 3 S) in the QGC via USB connection and ADC input?

Is it possible to get the hott telemtrie via aBUGSworstnightmare expansion (bluetooth port)?

Now i have to mount props and do some tests.

Thanks for hints right now!

Hi Christian,
glad it´s working. Another thing worth mentioning in the Wiki. And for the bug list...

Problem is that you can power the M4 and charge the lipo via USB but the voltage isn´t monitored correctly.
Bluetooth is the better choice for telemetry when doing tests with running motors,

Hi Joerg,

figuerd out, that SD didn't log when USB cabel is plugged and connected with computer.
With unplugged USB cabel, the log begins immediately
Thre is no doubt, your expansionboard is high qaulity, thanks for developing ist!

After setting SPV_VIN_SOURCE to 1 and reboot, QGC via USB Connection show
voltage but not the right one for 3S, starting with around 13V going up to 17V and
then dropping after a view minutes to 15.5V and less:
QGroundControl for AutoQuad v1.6 - 01.jpg

EDIT:
I am confused. Voltage is "running" up and down after a reboot. Running from 12.8V
to 16V to 18V to 22V .... and back to 13V ... up ...??

Hi Christian,

there seems to be a problem with the ADC since it shows 16.2V but also 'Low Battery stage 2'!

Please do me a favor and change the language setting to English to see if there is a problem with the German language version.
Also please make the same test with a 2S LiPo. do you have a BT module to use for communication with your MAC? How do you supply power to the HOTT receiver?

Rgds
