Tilt Rate and Angle tuning

I can only stabilize on the pitch or yaw axis not both. If the recommended values given for the PID control are used, and positive, the roll axis is unstable and the quad spins along this axis. Although, if I change the values to be negative the pitch axis is unstable and the quad spins along this axis. This is tested using a harness that allows the quad only to rotate on one axis at a time. Depending on the sign of the values the quad will stabilize on one of the two axis and spin on the other. The board being used is an AIMU, which to my knowledge does not have the parameter DEFAULT_IMU_FLIP.

I've messed up the setup on a copter to have it do the same thing for me. Get the motors to rotate in the right direction for the placement of the motor and your yaw will work correctly.

Review the information here and you will get it working.

That seems to have been the problem! Thank you Larry.
