Sensor seal like Plastidip for static data gathering

Good morning,

I am asking myself if it is possible, to protect the Sensors of the Board with a thin layer of Plastidip (liquid rubber) against the moisture problem while freezing and the following logging. Is this possible or does it change the sensor behaviour in some way?

Their has been discussions about protecting the board with a conformal coating. This may in fact be a good idea for very high humidity and especially operations in a salt water environment.

I'm not sure I'd use Plasticdip but don't have a reason other than the fact you would have to cover a lot of the board. The sensors are analog so all the traces between the sensors, any opamps involved, and the microprocessor would all have to be covered. If moisture would get under it then you'd have a bag of worms.

If you put the board in a zip lock bag, with the microsd card and the power connector sticking out and then freeze it. When it comes out of the freezer moisture will cover the bag but the board will be fine and give good results. Zip the bag closed and don't open it up until the static is over.

Acryllic conformal coating does not affect the board performance if done correctly. Plastidip would be a bad idea, since if you ever needed to do rework, it would be more or less impossible to remove the coating.

If coating the board, make sure to use a "solder-thru" conformal coating specifically for electronics and make sure the board is clean and dry before applying the coating.
