I hooked up some signaling LED strips to AutoQuad board. I'm using the built in LED signaling functionality of AQ, not any external board. I have a 1kohm resistor and a transistor (IRF530, http://www.vishay.com/docs/91019/91019.pdf) hooked up to signal pin of LED port per instructions in the wiki (http://autoquad.org/wiki/wiki/developme ... ED--8217-s).
The LEDs light up and function OK, but light level is not as high as when triggering the transistor with 5V voltage directly. On top of that, when giving steady light, the LEDs flicker just a hair (going darker and brighter really fast and randomly). Does anyone know why?

This IRF is'n good for this.
You will try to use transistor with lower Vgs for full open the gate. First from head ... 2n7002 (smd) or 2n7000 (tht)

I use these with no issues. They are the favored ones for use with arduino projects.

Ok, thanks! Is 2N7000 enough for driving ~30 LEDs (two strips of 15 LEDs) at 12V?
