Complete system diagram for X8 – feedback welcome

I´m only missing 4 wires and 1 jumper plus 1 telemetry unit - unless you can live without benefits like
- monitor health and status of the FC
- check live telemetry
- transmit waypoints and watch the bird do its circles

C´mon - at least a BT module.

Mmm I'm not convinced I need a telemetry unit just yet ... it's another complication! I can check the health of the flight battery and my altitude via the EagleTree video overlay. Maybe when I get into doing waypoints and such ...

Nice Paint job and planing. Like kinderkram said, you should at least plan a simple BT<->FTDI dongle. Doing PID tuning had never been more simple. Just grab an android smart phone or a notebook and correct your PID values directly on the flight field, makes life much easier .

Ah that's a fair point re: tuning PID values ... I take it there isn't an iPhone app available yet?

Would this sort of thing work on the vehicle side?

Can´t tell about this one but you can shoot some off Ebay for less than 10 bucks, I´ve even seen some for less then 5.
Only make sure the come in slave mode, 5V tolerant and configured for 115200 baud rate.

Yeah I saw them on those sites, just wondered if I could get them in the UK to save postage / time.

Are there any other specs I should look for? Any particular version of Bluetooth? Power level?

The normal Bluetooth modules are class 2 but if you want a higher range then take class 1 you can use your inbuilt Bluetooth in your pc to connect to them.
