Grüetzi Christof,

Thanks for the info, I will see that I can order this stuff here, but should be no problem with the details you have provided.
So for CAN bus to work properly ESC32s need transceiver and cap - got it!

As for powering the ESC32s, what is the best solution?

Also Grüezi

Well depends on your battery.
When using up to 3s, the VB option is fine, 4s and above use the 5V option.
VB means power the ESC from the batt, 5V needs powersupply from the FC or from a BEC.

I used the VB option with 4s and good results, but the wiki says nonono.

I am totaly jalous about you 24° and sunshine, but "it never rains in sc".

Cheers

I received the CAN transceivers for the ESC32s...
a.) Could someone please confirm the orientation of the chip (see picture). The other images that were posted earlier were just not clear enough for me.
b.) Do SMT caps have an orientation (+/-)?

Maybe someone can educate me on how chip orientation usually works (for the future).

Hi axelnied,

yes, you're right! This is pin 1 (red dot). It's always the same: The marking to the top (the white bar in this case) --> the upper left pin is pin 1 (for this types of packages). The pins were counted counter-clockwise --> upper right one is no8

I think your referring to the 100nF (0.1uF) cap, right? Those are non-polarized caps.

I just soldered 6 ESC32. What a nightmare. The 603 caps are so small. But they are ready now and flashed to r49.
Now shrinking and calibrating.

Christof,

If you could share some images of how you connect the ESCs via CAN bus to the CAN add-on board?
