Offline maps - where to get ?

Where can i get offline maps to use with the Android GCS ? Any special format required ?

I know there are several available for Geo-Cachers, for Here.com, and some more. But not sure which one will work and if there are any needs where to save them on the local storage.

Any details about this theme ? Recently nothing to be found here at the forum....

Never used the offline maps, I always cache the aera where I intend to fly and download the tiles upfront.

Here´s a description, though it´s for the Droidplanner it should be similar to the AQ android GCS:

okay, thx alot - will read carefully and see how it works. Offline maps would help me at some locations where i have bad or non network on cellphone

I forgot to mention that Peter has released a Map Creator a while ago:
