New comm module??

Postby Jdmagoo » Sun Jun 30, 2013 2:59 am

Hmm as the title suggests what's this new comm module mentioned in the experimental R196 firmware?

The changes say the following 'Update flow control disable option for new comm module'

Interesting

Yes, Bill re-wrote the serial/communications layer a while back... look through the older commits (I was just belatedly updating the makefile). For now the practical application is that one can have a 2nd serial port available via UART2 connections on the J2 expansion header. For example to communicate with a 2nd Mavlink device at a different baud rate than the primary serial. In the future, the new comm layer will be used to support multiple protocols including several concurrently via multiplexing. :geek:
