Heading free is based on DVH, so you cannot engage heading free from a manual switch position.

I believe so, although I'm not sure about the set heading for heading free.
I have my own routine for that (using the set pos switch that sets the heading when in heading free mode, in any other mode re-sets the home pos), so I have to check but I think that's it indeed.

Thanks for this Max, good job. Would you decide to put ESC32 compiled firmware also?

Is there anywhere to see a changelog for the experimental firmware versions?

Unfortunately Google stopped accepting new uploads back in January, and I haven't had time to figure out where else to put them. The AQ site downloads take too long to set up. I'm thinking of maybe just dumping them in FTP folder(s) for now...

I`ve created a new section "Experimental Firmware":
http://autoquad.org/software-downloadsIf you find no other place for these 500k crumbs - just dump them in /wp-content/exp-fw/
