Last waypoint behaviour

Postby rput » Tue Jan 13, 2015 6:47 pm

Hi all,

I am wondering if the current behaviour of the mission mode is actually desired. It seems when the last waypoint is reached AQ repeats the last mission command over and over again. The effect of this is that when you have a relative altitude change in the last mission, the aircraft continues to go up.

Another effect of this behaviour is that it overloads mavlink with messages of reaching the waypoint. This happens when loiter time is set to 0 or other low values.

Anyone has any thoughts on this?

Cheers,
Richard

I should add that this may potentially stop the signal loss fail-safe from working as well since it is still considered to be in mission mode.

Well ... you usually flip the switch when the last waypoint is reached unless it´s auto landing.
Depending on the mission I usually take over manually and bring it home. You can also use home as the last waypoint and switch to PH.

The continous flight is a nice feature when it comes to orbit mode. It circles until the lipo runs out and you can manually override the altitude to make it fly in a spirale up and down.

If a failsafe event kicks it, the craft will continue its mission. That´ll give it the chance to regain radio connection.
We´ve discussed pros&cons on this matter forth&back. There´s no reaction that fits 100% under all conditions...

Which GCS do you use? QGC or Android?
Sometimes the Ladies come too late or talk too much - just like in real life.

If the announcements are too close together, e.g. with loiter time = 0 they might struggle with the amount of text.
