ESC32v2 +CAN support

Hi James,

the design is based on an idea from Menno (Mav2Hott) and I only added some DC/DC's (5V for powering the ESC's and LED's; 12V for video transmitters (since I want to use it in an FPV quad) and a LLC for connecting to a Spektrum TM1000 telemetry transmitter).

Once I confirmed the board working it will be shared on OshPark and I will also upload the schematics and the BOM to my CamCruiser build log (viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2920).

would 130ohm resister be Ok on the R3 pad? My local vendor doesn't have the 120Ohms in stock.

Would the extra resistance have any impact on the Bus even if the nodes were as few as 3 or a max of 8?

Hi James,

the CAN bus is a differential bus which needs a impedance of 50-70 Ohm. There is a 120Ohm resistor on the DIMU.

If you add a 130Ohm resistor the total resistance calculates as

--> Rcan = (120*130) / (120+130) = 62.4Ohm (Ohm's Law)

Some basic questions:
Who have flown with a can esc32? When video close up is appreciated.
What is the update rate on the motor side when can is used?
Is it possible let the motor turn forward and reverse when using can?

CAN is interface between FC and ESC side.
No other changes in working but there is 2 way communication.

Hi bluuu thanks for the awnser.
I know can is between the FC and the esc. I will use it with the paparazzi open source FC.
Because the communication frequentie between FC and esc is higher than with pwm, maybe the update rade to the motor side was also increased. But it semend not. What is than now the update rate to the motor?

Wat information is send back from the esc to the FC with the 2 way communication?
