MN3510-15 630KV + RCTimer 13x5.5 CFK prop - ESC32 calib

Hi,

just finished the ESC32 calibration procedure for the combination below:
T-Motor MN3510-10 630KV (http://flyduino.net/Multikopter-Brushle ... avigator_3)
and
RCTimer (?) 13x5.5in CFK prop for Navigator series (http://flyduino.net/1355T-Carbon-Fiber- ... ator-Motor).

Here are the calibration results. Would be fine if somebody could check them and report back (since I think there's room for improvements).

I've used a 4S1P 6000mAh 25-50C lipo (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... ouse_.html) with the overall current limit set to 25A and the calibration current limit set to 18A.

I think I will have to further increase the current limit to allow the motor to reach 100% duty (because of the results below):

Duty 80 to 90, MAX current = 25.145353
Duty 85 to 90, MAX current = 0.005814
Duty 85 to 95, MAX current = 0.005686
Duty 85 to 100, MAX current = 0.004575
Duty 90 to 95, MAX current = 0.002401
Duty 90 to 100, MAX current = 0.001435

Nevertheless, here are the (preliminary) results:

You can increase the calibration current limit until you run into the motor loosing sync. As long as the calibration cycle can complete you are good.

Looking at the current limiter results, I am a bit baffled by the last lines. Did the motor stop at 90 percent? If thats the case, you need to lower the limit until the cycle completes.

This motor-prop combination does command some very high current spikes, but with the 18A limit, you are still allowed a 20 percent duty increase in 1 timestep, so you should still be good with that.

I usually aim for around 25% duty increases to be allowed in the 30-60% duty window, since that is where most of the work by the motors is done.

I would say that you are possibly 1" too big on the prop - a 12" is probably bettery suited for that motor and battery.

Also if you take a look at the RPM result, you will see that the motor only draws around 15A at full speed, so 25A is probably a little to high for the overall current limit.

But play around a bit. If you have access to a Linux terminal, try and run the calibratrion there.

I had the same problem as many do by thinking that you have to keep the amp setting high enough to be sure that the motor can finish calibration.
The higher you set the amps the greater chance you loose sink.
