Calibration FX-4006 + 10*4,5 prop

Postby qavAQ37 » Wed Dec 18, 2013 9:31 pm

Hi,

I'm experiencing some problems calibrating this prop set with esc32 : at high duty, current calibration ends with high pitched sound (during 3-4 seconds) coming from motor, it seems like it loose synch ...
my parameters are the following :

PTERM 0.250
ITERM 0.00060
MAX_CURRENT 20.0
ADVANCE 10.00
PNFAC 10.00
INFAC 0.15

FET_BRAKING 0
SERVO_DUTY 16.0
SERVO_P 0.050
SERVO_D 0.000
SERVO_MAX_RATE 1000.0
SERVO_SCALE 360.0
PWM_MIN_VALUE 750
PWM_LO_VALUE 1000
PWM_MIN_START 1100
PWM_MIN_PERIOD 2200
PWM_LOWPASS 0.00

CL1TERM 12.7956
CL2TERM -0.0027262
CL3TERM -1.10153
CL4TERM 0.000883805
CL5TERM 3.00003

FF2TERM +1.06736e-03
THR1TERM +0.00000e+00
THR2TERM +1.00000e+00
MIN_PERIOD 50

Cl1 and CL5 are big compared to other motors, what's wrong with it ?
Thanks for help.

Re-run the calibration again with lower maximum current setting.

If there is a problem with synchronization, change the timing (advance) to higher value (15-25). Bigger motors likes higher timing usually.

Don´t the 4006 series have 24 poles?
Which motor do you have - this one?

Thanks for your help
Yes i have this one, but it's a 18 poles motor
I tried with 15 amps limit and it worked, no abnormal sound at the end, but nearly the same CL1/CL5 results ...can i upload this calibration results safely ?
fried one controller , dont know why , i was setting motor + prop at 7000 rpm with QGC (rpm calibrated but not current limiter ) and 2 mosfets died instantly, in short circuit and maybe one half bridge driver died, i will try to repair it tomorrow ....

Xavier

The Configuration of your motor is 18N24P. From that I've read your motor has 24 poles because is has 24 magnets. 18N24P stands for 18 stator poles and 24P stands for the number of magnets and poles.

Ok thanks for the correction larry, i'll update the field with correct pole value and give a try ...
Fried esc came to life, i had no IR2103s in my stock but IR2108s with deadtime protection and inverted low side input, i had to modify fet.h in border to properly drive mos
I made a quick test and it seems to work ...

"But, be careful if you want to try to use the IR2108 with 3S and your battery voltage drops below 10v."
Fortunately i use 4S packs on my setup
"Not to sound too harsh, but for anyone reading this: you are not supposed to run ESC32 without a reasonable current limit. The current limiter is the safety, there is no other magic beyond that. Expect these sort of things to happen if you decide to ignore this warning."
Correct me if i'm wrong but in this case two mofets on the same arm were burnt, in my opinion it's more related to a shoot-through failure (drivers 2301s cannot protect against that) than a current limitation problem ?!
