Hi Jussi

Thats how I had it. Nicely twisted inside the 16mm CF tube.

The mots shut off at 1600PW no matter what.

(MN 3508 700 @ 4s with 12x45 -> ca 20amps max)

With the shielded signalwire within the CF tube, it works flawless.

Hi Christof,

Are you able to show a photo of the shielded signal wire in place

Thanks

Hi James

I use a simple shielded cable. 2 wires packed in a plastic foil, around that the shield. Use the shield as ground (-).
Here the pics, but hard to see the shield. I was already drilling it togehter and covering is with shriktube (black).

Thanks,

So you connect the shield back to the negative input on the signal wire? Or to the negative on the battery?

What ever is convenient for you. I use the shield as (-) wire and connect it to (-) on the AQ side and to (-) on the ESC side.

Christof

I understand your problem now but I'm wondering if the capacitor is the cause or do you see the problem without the capacitor in the power wire leads?

Hi Larry

I am not sure what causes the problem.

My first Setup worked without shielding
MS 2216 900 w/10*45 @ 3s

Then I changed to 12*45 and had some trouble to cal the ESC32. In my aftermath, it was due to disarm @ 19amps.
After changing to MN3508 w/12*45 @ 4s the disarm took place @ 16amps.

So obviously there is a connection between voltage/current and interference.

Maybe I should do some tests with the caps at different positions to see if the caps are the reason.
When I look at Mäx's reference hexa and his setup, the caps seem to be the reason for disarm.
But where to place the extra caps then?

Any comments from EMI specialists are very welcome.

Cheers

Christof

My guess is on the ESC32. Don't think having the caps under the AQ board is good.

Shielded signal wires is a good cheap solution though and a good idea even without a problem.

Hi Larry

You mean place the caps close to the ESC32? YGE does it this way.
I was following the recomandations spread all over "use an extra cap for each 20cm powerline".

Maybe my "Mag issue" is also "caps under AQ" related. Actually the caps are not under the AQ board but at the first cm inside the CF tube and in the middle of the CF tube a second one. The third is right on the ESC32.

When I remodel the hexa, I will give it a try and place just one extra cap on the ESC32.

For the capacitance to have the most positive impact, it should be as close as possible to the load. That would be on the ESC's battery terminals.
