That's beautiful Christof! Very elegant and "minimalistic" design. I love the belt pulleys! Does the lens end up centered on the roll/tilt axes? How does it hold on to the round tube up top? Oh, and what's the weight?

One thing I'd like to see is a floating plate for the camera -- sitting on rubber standoffs, or something like that. To isolate the camera from as much vibration as possible. The isolation material might take some experimenting to get right... but I think it'd be worth it.

Hi Max

The centering of the lens will take some more time. When the gimbal works flawless, i will do this final tuning.

The weight with servos without cam is 314gr. I still have ca 50gr room with different bearings.

So far i planned to use 3mm foam under th cam. But the first vids will prove if thats right.

Agreed with Max, experimented a lot with anti vibration and placing the cam on foam will hardly eliminate the high frequency vibrations.
Floating is the way to go, either using wire dampers or 'hanging' on silicon blocks will do the trick. Together with 50/60fps and NO anti vibration setting in the camera (sony's new CX730/740 optical will work) can produce clear footage.
