HL X8, switching to AQ

Hi Guys,

have this HL standing around since a long time. Before normal WKM on it changed recently to A2 acutally got it from DJI to test it. Recent reports though that there are still troubles with with the A2 i am not willing to risk the setup, acutually never took it in the air with the A2 on it. Since i am very happy with my smaller X8 AQ, i decided to also give this one an AQ heart.

Specs.

Cinestar Frame used as 8x.
Roll-cage and vibration dampening custom.
KW 9 motors
Herkules ESCs
16 Xoar
Secraft rectrace
Normally running on 2 6s 10000

Couple question if someone finds the time would be great to answer. Guess to run the AQ with 6s the recoms, is this really a clean way though or any risks. I don't need the AQ voltage feedback i am happy with my jeti setup and sensors. So whats the better way good quality BEC or mod the AQ ?

Using Herkules ESCs thus normal PWM and no calibration possible like with the ESC32. Anything to think about in that case ?

The bird it gonna be bottom heavy wanted to use the lipo placement to additionally dampen vibrations. Now with the rather heavy bird around (8kg with gh3/zenmuse and 2x 10000 6s ) and big props any suggestions or fears that the AQ will hack it, since i haven't seen to many heavier AQ setups.

As for the Hercules: mount them as far away from the FC as possible.
We´re also using 6s (either 2x5300 or 2x10.000) and power the AQ via UBEC.

We´re currently re-building a 1m heavy lift Hexa that´ll weigh up to ~9kg. It previously flew with an Naza v2 and A2 - but what a difference with a pre-calibrated AQ! I´m pretty confident it will handle the payload well.

This topic has some information on using 6s batteries or the AQ. The AQ monitors the battery voltage and uses the info to keep the AQ performing consistently over the range of voltages you get as your lipos drain.

A UBEC will work but not quite as well as the 6s voltage This has not been tested yet but it should work.
