reference Hexacopter + FCP-HL medium lift

Together with Jussi (Viacopter.eu) and Paul (Flyduino.net) i build the FCP-HL Hexa+ to have a reference in size, weight and tuning parameters.
Also a complete partslist, and of course a buildlog with pics and dimensions.
The idea behind this ( i know there are already some FCP-HL frames flying around) is to create a complete set and some PID´s and Motor-Mixing-Tables new startes could use first to get into AutoQuad more easy.

AUW (all-up-weight) of the frame is 1950g
Battery used 4s5000 @ ~24A total power consumption

- 6x 340 mm CF boom for FCP-HL

- 8x XL motorplate for FCP-HL

- 2x Boom clamp set for FCP-HL

- 6x Tmotor MT2216-11 900KV

- 6x ESC32 32bit ESC

- Popellers: GemFan EPP Style 1045 propellors (maybe the CF enforced are the better choice) or Gemfan wooden 11"x4

- XL landing gear for FCP-HL

- Protective dome for FCP-HL frame

- USB -> Serial adapter stick

Motor mounting plates are choosen the big ones to hide the ESC32 under the motors and keep them cool in the propwash.
They fit nicely there:


First indoor hover test felt very good with all default parameters, the frame is very stiff and feels handy.
With 3s8000 SimpleBGC, GoPro3 and 11"x4 props to see how far i can go.
3s is working but definitly to less for an AUW of ~3000g ~24A total power consumption


First outdoortest was also no challenge, smooth and controlable.
4s5000 AUW ~2300g


After that the calypso and calculating parameters was also not a big challenge.
Next step finetuning of the onboard parameters, fotostory and posting the PID´s when the damn snow disappears

This setup is very close to what I hope to order, I'm planning on the t motor MN3110-17 navigator series motors though, everything else will be the same. Really looking forward to your progress with this.

One question though, did you do the calibration (static & dynamic) before the first flight? Or is that coming up next?

And what flight time are you getting without a payload using the 4s 5000mah battery?

the opposite filming copter is a carboncore wkm with z15 but hey, nobody´s perfect
