QGC: Set Home?

Please don't use the app for now.
Start, switch to PH and then set HOME via TX.
Now fly away from this position and switch to RTH (you can also simply yaw). Test this and post a log file. Let us know which channel is used for flight mode

Great you have RTH working. Now try RTH farther away and watch to see how well it hits the home point. If it always come into home nice and smooth with the speed set up as high as 5 m/s your ready to do missions. If not you may need to reduce vibrations or adjust PIDs.

Hi Larry, so is it not supposed to RTH when not in PH? It only performs RTH in PH, is that correct?

You can trigger RTH in manual mode but it´s recommended to switch to PH before performing any autonomous functions.
That way you´ll see how it keeps the spot - if it´s all over the place you better not trigger RTH or missions bc you can´t be sure about the performance.

Setting a home point in PH is also much easier, especially in windy conditions. I usually set a home point several meters in front of me and from the ground. Depending on the surroundings it´s advised to set the home point higher than the highest building you´ll be flying over.
