Twisting power cables

I understand that it is recommended good practice to twist power cables to reduce RFI. Does this include/extend to the three wires that connect the motor to the esc (effectively lightly platted)?

Things are always changing and so is the firmware and IMU for the AQ boards.
If you have an AQ board with a DIMU then there is little need to twist the power leads to reduce mag interference.
If you don't have a DIMU board then twist away, but not the three motor wires because they are not carry DC current.

I was wondering if twisted is really necessary and parallel isn't enough:

never seen any tests with twisted compared to just parallel. Not big issue but twisted mean more cable which isn't good of out of several reasons. Maybe its just convenient to twist them, thus have become the standard instead of using a couple zip ties to fixate them parallel !

To keep cables tightly parallel/together you need more than just "a couple of" zip ties. :) Every bend is a potential separation point.

According to my experience twisting the cables has little effect on cable length. Maybe few centimeters for half a meter or so. It of course depends on how tightly you twist! :)

Thank you Larry. I have taken delivery of two DIMU update boards (and a full FPC HL quad frame kit) but I am too busy to have even opened the box yet!!!

Best results with motor wires is to keep them short and away from the FC.
That´s one reason why we recommend mounting the ESCs under or near the motors.
Twisting or braiding the signal wires makes more sense.
