mission planning

Hi,
Happy new year to you.
I tried to prepare a mission planning but I dont see on the map the distance between 2 way point neither altitude.
When you have a cube to design how you do that ?
Thanks
Alain

Alain

I did it the easy way just used the scale in the bottom left corner of the Google Earth screen. Click on Map view first to get a straight on view then you can adjust the scale of Google Earth and place a waypoint on one end of the scale and the second on the other end after you adjust the size to how far you want the waypoints to be apart. To do the latitude rotate the screen by clicking on the "N" in the top right of the screen and place the waypoints the same way.

The altitude is set in the mission. I always used relative altitude.

Is there a way of changing the default values for a new waypoint? Currently the default altitude is "absolute 0m" and I have to remember to change it manually to "relative" for each waypoint I add. Miss one and you'll crash.

thanks Larry for your reply.
I saw that way, but it is not easy.
Sorry but drawing a cube is not possible by that way
I want to do that:

or that:

The cube with QGC autoquad (that'is the same), but the distances between each way point are not controlled !

@ trnquill
Yes you must control each line  I not saw other thing to do.

In the mission planner, add your first waypoint and set whatever default settings you want. Now click the blue + button, which will make an exact copy of the currently selected waypoint. Then drag the new wpt to wherever you want.

Distances are a great idea, will have to see about adding that.

Alain

You can do it the way I described but it not all what easy.
Once you have two WPs in both directions you can copy and paste to have all WPs very accurate.

Steve and I flew a cube contest last year. The last half minuet of this video shows the cube.

Thanks for yours replies.
Larry it is not easy to draw a sqare with the values we want with the scale in qgc . You never know if you are with an angle of 90°.
Max if you can do something as WKM or MK , that will be the best.
Many thanks.

Alain

If you copy and paste the two longitude and the two latitude values and make four WPs you will have a square that is almost a perfect. The latitude values does have a little taper that you would notice in a large square and you have to have the cube aligned north and south.

Look at the log and lat values in the screen shot above.
