AVC Sparkfun Contest in June 2013

Ah so that was our entry.
It was looking good till then.

It looked a bit dicy when the ball was dropped with the yo-yo maneuver

I could not believe it, when your ship touched the bar. In the livestream it looked like one or two cm missing. Hopefully there is not too much damage.
Your octo looked very impressive and I noticed all the comments. That's exactly how the run was.

It was a very good, try, but as Larry says, it is always very difficult to compete when you do not have much time to test and prepare the right setup. Especially when your competitors have much more possibilities to do testing on site.
I would like to thank the team for the great work they did and the great publicity this has given to AQ.
Little things decide over success or failure, but I would not even describe it as failure, rather as a case of bad luck.
I am sure the next time AQ will be competing for the first place and will be considered a tough competitor.

Yes DIYD & 3DRobotics were represented massively there. They already participated there the last years.

Bc of the bad commentry and camera operating most of the aerial runs (especially the first 2 heats) couldn't be watched.
You couldn't tell who is who, what FC used and what was achieved. I only saw 1 other quad trying the wicket - with the same results as Larry's: hit the rod and crashed. Most of the fixed wings even skipped that part...

I hope they do a show reel of all runs soon.

No matter what the point count was in the end - Larry and his team did a great job presenting the AQ project there!

The octo is built for the type of crash that happened on the third run. There is only two arms broken and props.

It's an honor to be able to show how well the AQ can control a multi rotor craft.

It was great not having the Minnesota mosquitoes chasing us around the field but all the reporters and the camera men made up for them.

Well done guys, hope that sparkfun will release some footage because I love to see it. Hope you enjoyed the competition and stay there..
Next challenge: adjust the params to allow 80 degrees tilt and 110km/h flights

Sparkfun will release a video "in the next few weeks".
But I guess we'll see some spectator's stuff sooner than their's.

@ Larry: how many test runs did you have before your 1st run in the contest?
